Retrospect of Central Japan

This article was first published in PinoyExchange,  it is to summarize the highlight of my 12 days trip in Japan. So I am posting it here to conclude my Japan travel blog series.

AIRPORT:

Haneda Airport -
This is the most conveniently located airport in Tokyo. To avoid costly taxi fare, take the Metro line to the city, in just 30 mins.  If you will be arriving past midnight, would suggest you to spend the night in the airport (thru public seats, or capsule hotel), instead of spending taxi fare and accommodation in the city.

MUST TRY LOCAL DISHES: *in no particular order

1. Assorted Sashimi - try some exotic seafood such as: Fugu (Blowfish)

2. Street food : Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki

3. Fastfood - Noodles or Rice dish sets

4. Fresh Wasabi and Wasabi flavored sweets (eg. Kitkat) -

5. Green tea from a tea ceremony

DESTINATION/TOURIST ATTRACTION:

(Sorted according to my Itinerary)

There are numerous sights and scenery in Japan, every where you turn your head is a unique place worthy of taking a photograph, hence I will only list here the top 6 places which for me is the best in central Japan -

Tokyo Central & West : Modern Architectures and People Watching

Shizuoka - No other than Mount Fuji

Kyoto - Gion and Temples -

Kinkankuji Temple

Fushimi Inari

Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Nara and Mie - Bamboo Forest and Ninjas!

Kobe & Osaka - Kobe Kirin Beer Factory, Kobe Harbor and Tower, Osaka Signboards

Amanohashidate - Sand-bridge, Water Village, Sake Factory

All these places were visited through joining a couch-surfing group in Japan.  Hence, breaking the stereotype of traveling in Japan is costly.
